Support for Hydration

by Pamela Hunter

Do you feel dehydrated?  August is a month that I find it tough to stay hydrated.    How do you know when you are dehydrated?  For me, my eyes get dry, my mouth gets dry, and I actually have dreams about water!  It that crazy?!?  I find myself thinking about water in different ways all day long...

I have been having these dreams a lot, so through the months of August and Setpember, I practice these steps to up my hydration game.  Here are steps to stay hydrated from most intense to least.  You can practice these steps whenever they work into your life.

1.  SALT PRESS - get a a really good brand of himalayan sea salt and an 1/8 of a teaspoon.  I like to use a brand of blended salt from Healthgems.com.  They also sell the 18 of teaspoon.  You take an 1/8 of teaspoon of the salt in your mouth on your tongue where you can press the salt into the roof of your mouth.  Keep pressing the salt to the roof of your mouth until it dissolves.  Then drink 24 ounces of water right away.  It is very important to drink the water right away to flush the minerals through the cells in your body for hydration.

2.  SALT SOAKS - get your bathtub ready for you to bathe 3-5 times a week.  In your tub, put 1.5 - 2 cups of epson salts in the water.  To make it smell extra yummy add your favorite essential oil to the water.  Soak for a minumum of 20 minutes.

*notice the amount of salt you use.  It is not necessary to have pre-made bath salts - get a big bag of epson salts from the store and add your oils as you drop the salts in the tub.  Make it simple.

3.  PEPPERMINT SPLASH - According to the Institute of Aromatherapy & Spiritual Healing, when you add a drop of Peppermint Vitality essential oil to your water it is said that absorbtion increases by 17%.  Sometimes we drink and drink and drink water and do not feel different.  This is often due to absorption issues.  With the use of Young Living Vitality essential oils, we can add essential oils to our water and feel the benefits of the water and the oils.  Vitality essential oils have white labels and are deemed GRAS, Generally Regarded As Safe to consume as dietary supplements.  NOW, just one drop of Peppermint Vitality goes a long way as it is very potent.  And when you add essential oils to your water of drinks, please use glass and/or stainless steal, NOT plastic.  Some may find one drop too much.  In this case, you can drop one drop in a glass pitcher of water and pour from this glass pitcher.  This will give less concentration.

4.  LEMON LUSTER - The same way we used Peppermint Vitality, we can use Lemon Vitality Essential Oil.  When choosing lemon essential oils, you are supporting your immune system to find its pH balance.  Lemon Vitality is not near as strong as Peppermint, as far as taste.  You can add 2-3 drops of Young Living Lemon Vitality essential oil to 8 oz of water in a glass or stainsless container for a yummy, hydrating lemon water.

What is the difference from using Lemon Vitality essential oil versus lemon wedges?  The difference is how it affects the teeth.  According to the American Dental Association, lemon juice from lemon wedges are acidic in the mouth and are known to damage the enamel of your teeth.  Lemon Vitality essential oil is alkaline in the mouth and does not affect your teeth enamel.
